You will need to use this with an AMI or Award Flash Utility.

An easier way of doing this, since many people have wiped out their motherboards lately due to bad flash utilities is to simply use the installtion disk from the hard drive manufacturer.

I do not know why more people simply do not realize this. Maxtor, Western Digital, Seagate, and all the others for years have provided an installation utility that will format, set partitions, and over ride BIOS size limitations.

You can download this utility on our Hard Drive Drivers page here:

http://www.dejanet.com/vc/drivers/hard_drives.html

ANd you can also downlaod updated version on the respective hard drive manufacturer's web sites (maxtor.com, westerndigital.com, segate.com, fujitsu.com). These utilities come with the Retail version hard drives, but must be downloaded with the OEM drives.
The utility is free of charge and will saves lots of headaches.

: i downloaded the BIOS upgrade file for my M1531/43 MB and cant figure out what program file to open a .bin file with.
: I have a 12 Gig HD installed but this system only recognizes up to a 7.8 Gig HD, any suggestions as to how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

: thanks,
: Guns
