Toshiba sattelite pro 460 CDT/ Win 98 hang when using usb port with sony dsc P1 camera

I try to use my camera (sony DSC P1) with my laptop (Tosh 460 CDT).
I can see the device when i connect the usb link, the driver is correctly installed, but when i try to copy file from the camera to the laptop, win 98 crash after one or two picture!
Does anyone have an idea.
Toshiba support site does not provide any usb updated driver for win 98.
