I ran across this one just this week while updating an old M537 I still have around the house. First, see if you are using the BIOS dated 04/98 - if so, this is the latest BIOS available. This board is strange when it comes to memory chips. I just found a web site a few days ago explaing the memory problem in a bit more detail.

Here is that link:

http://www.zarniwoop.force9.co.uk/index.htm

My problem was with the M537UDMA33 board and using 96MB of RAM - it would show 163MB RAM on boot up, but windows would give the correct number. After the system ran for 10 minutes or so, it would change the value and/or lock up. I solved the probelm by removing the 16MB SIMM. Now running 80MB (2 32MB / 2 8MB 72 Pin -60ns). Problem solved. I'll keep looking for the info I found on this - it stated what style of chips peopls found to work with this motherboard. By the way, my MB is v.5.2. You can find this number next to the keyboard connector.

Also, I think I have a manual for this board, and I'm going to email it over to you if I can find it.

The website listed above also has some of the manual pages available.

: I´ve got a M537 Mainboard,
: but my Ram isn´t working properly.

: I´ve got a 64 Mb dram chip, but my Comp. only finds 16Mb.

: If anyone knows why, please tell me.

: By the way, has anyone a manual for this board (pdf,doc,..?)?

: Thank you very much for your help.
