Sound is disabled in the BIOS (press and hold the DEL key while turning on the computer. Look through the menus, you should find it under Integrated Peripherals if my memory serves me right.
PLEASE NOTE: Depending on which version of the M571 you have, the M571 or M571LMR or M571MR (with or without modem basically), the modem will stop working also when you do this due to the fact that the sound chip also has the modem integrated in it also.
: I wish to disable the onboard sound chip and install a PCI sound card. The manual doesn't have info as to which jumper must be changed to do this.
