M571 BIOS upgrade gone wrong

I was trying to upgrade the BIOS on my motherboard at the weekend and it failed. Now the PC will not boot, blank screen etc. When it does try to boot the hard disk and then the cd activity light blink for a while and then nothing. Is this situation recoverable ro does it mean a new motherboard? Any help appreciated.
