There are several possible methods to attempt recovery of the BIOS.

If your PC doesn't boot anymore after flashing the BIOS, there might still be a way to flash
another BIOS file. Copy the BIOS file and Award Flash Utility onto a bootable DOS boot disk
(you'll ofcourse need a second computer to do this). Next, create or alter the file AUTOEXEC.BAT
to add the following line : AWDFL779 990101s.bin /py /sn
where ofcourse you should replace 990101s.bin with the proper BIOS file name. The additional
parameter /py stands for Program bios:Yes and /sn for Security copy:No.

Another method is hot swapping, where you VERY CAREFULLY swap the bad BIOS into a same or similar motherboard while it is powered up and then re-falsh the bad BIOS. Ihave succesfully used this method many times, but, keep in mind, if your nerves are not steady while doing the swap, you could very well end up with two dead machines.

Other methods are to use an eeprom burner, replacing the BIOS chip itself, sending the BIOS chip out to someone to have them re-program it, or selling the dead motherboard on eBay.

Below are some excellent links on BIOS Recovery Methods.

: I was trying to upgrade the BIOS on my motherboard at the weekend and it failed. Now the PC will not boot, blank screen etc. When it does try to boot the hard disk and then the cd activity light blink for a while and then nothing. Is this situation recoverable ro does it mean a new motherboard? Any help appreciated.
